Facebook Group: Chito Ryu Kata

I have been participating in the Chito Ryu Kata Facebook group recently. The nature of the posts varies according to the individuals interests and, as in all such groups, less than 10% are active in discussions at any one time.

There is a great cross section of people, spanning location, seniority, experience, and focus.

It is interesting to see the sensitivities of different people and to learn more about them by their posts.

Budo Theory - 2nd Edition
I received this exciting announcement from Rick Rowell, author of Budo Theory: Volume 1

After many requests, I finally bit the bullet and rewrote Budo Theory. The second edition is entitled Budo Theory: Exploring Martial Arts Principles. I have revamped, updated and added lots of new information.

If you are interested in finding out more about the book, I have started a new website www.budotheory.ca that I hope will grow into a resource for many.

You can explore the website and be directed to articles I have excerpted from the book. This will help provide you with an idea of what the book covers. You can also view the Table of Contents and Index.

The book will be available early March, but if you want to reserve copy(s) you can e-mail me and I will put them aside for you.

Chito Ryu Sohonbu Home Page

I'm off to Japan next week to attend the Soke Cup and do some sightseeing around northern Kyushu. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there from across Canada, Australia, Japan, Europe, etc.

I haven't been to Japan in summer, so I'm not looking forward to the heat.

A Reunion

Steve Gionet - Mitchell German- Michael Colling - John Shaw - San Fung-German
taken at the Halifax Ryuseikan Dojo in Cole Harbour.

While visiting Halifax for the Atlantic Karate Club 40th Anniversary, I had the chance to train with Michael Colling for the first time since our days together at the AKC about 35 years ago. We started just after the AKC was organized (1970), when the 'senior' instructors were Orange belts.

As we swapped old war stories and talked of absent friends, we got to thinking about tracking them down and suggesting an official reunion.

This search has begun and the AKC Reunion Yahoo Group has been started to help.
