I'm off to Japan next week to attend the Soke Cup and do some sightseeing around northern Kyushu. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there from across Canada, Australia, Japan, Europe, etc.
I haven't been to Japan in summer, so I'm not looking forward to the heat.

taken at the Halifax Ryuseikan Dojo in Cole Harbour.
While visiting Halifax for the Atlantic Karate Club 40th Anniversary, I had the chance to train with Michael Colling for the first time since our days together at the AKC about 35 years ago. We started just after the AKC was organized (1970), when the 'senior' instructors were Orange belts.
As we swapped old war stories and talked of absent friends, we got to thinking about tracking them down and suggesting an official reunion.
This search has begun and the AKC Reunion Yahoo Group has been started to help.

I recently received the announcement for the 40th Anniversary celebration for the Atlantic Karate Club in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I started at the AKC in January of (ugh) 1971. I was attending university in Halifax and Don McGraham, one of my classmates, was one of the organizers, along with John Dean, Kathy Moser and Dr. Bill Cole.
Most of my fond memories of my time in Halifax are wound up in the AKC. The hard basic training (basic because that's all we knew about); the mental training afterwards at the Lion's Head Tavern; clinics with Higashi Sensei; the 1973 visit by Osensei and Kugizaki Sensei and numerous adventures best left unreported.
I'm looking forward to attending the anniversary party and hope to see some old (old) friends, and make some new ones.
The details of the event are on the AKC web site http://www.atlantickarateclub.ca/

A few days ago I decided to combine an interest in web page creation with my interest in finding the whereabouts of all ICKF dojo around the world. The idea grew out of the ICKF Canada dojo database and the listings I displayed on the Canadian dojo webpage.
By scrounging basic dojo information from various web sites, I've built up a database of all the ICKF dojo I could find listed. It is displayed at http://ryusan.com/maps/.
I welcome any corrections that would make this more accurate.
